I wanted to post this for you guys as well thought maybe a break from all the mechanical threads. So I purchased these but they had quite a few face dings and curb rash. They were ball polished but some of the marks went all the way down past the chrome paint layers. From what I could tell Mas. uses a Chrome paint over a silver base layer to achieve the ball polished look. Additionally whatever clear they used over the top of it all was not very reticent to peeling or dings. I couldn't decide on a color, and some of the chrome/black chrome paint I was going to use was so over-priced I decided to go with a PPG Bright Metallic Silver. It's similar in color to the rim color that was on the car. So here's a few pics to keep you entertained till you see a new thread you like better:
The photos above shows how bad some of the rims were. The photos directly below show the rims after they were media blasted. I paid to $40 USD a rim to have it done:
Now guys I have to apologize in advance. If I would have thought people would want to see the inbetween steps of rim repair I would have photographed it. The steps missing after the media blasting is cleaning, wash with soap and water and let dry, then use a wax/grease remover like Prep-All. Next I always use an adhesive promoter. I bought the adhesion promoter from "House of Kolor". I am sure you guys have something similar over there. Go with a trusted name it's a critical step. Next is the filler for little nicks that went through to the metal that epoxy primer/ 2K Primer won't fix. Then it's the Base-clear for two stage or Base-Pearl/Tint-Clear for 3 stage. Here's the finished product. The bottom photo on the car wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sports:
