    ZF gearbox service

Thanks for the advice. I did this on a Cayenne turbo a few years ago and it was pretty straightforward. Just waiting for Amazon to deliver a new torque wrench that'll go as low as the 12Nm setting for the metal oil pan bolts.

    ZF gearbox service

No gearbox codes. So, would you not bother with the gearbox filter and fluid change? At 98,000 miles surely it’d benefit from a gearbox service?

    ZF gearbox service

The gearbox service kit arrived today. Before doing the service, I went for a quick drive to check that the gearbox was still acting up... Everything is working perfectly again, just like immediately prior to the MOT. I wonder if the MOT might have temporarily upset the gearbox. It is working...

    ZF gearbox service

Thanks for the advice. I went for an MOT yesterday. The garage is about 30 minutes drive away. The gear changes were fine on the way to the MOT but were certainly different on the way home. For example, when I drove away from the MOT test, the car held second gear until I manually changed gear...

    Parking brake imbalance

I'm just about to buy 4 new handbrake shoes. If yours are still lying around, I'd be happy to buy them from you. Thought I'd ask before ordering online. Thanks

    ZF gearbox service

My 2007 4.2 ZF auto had some sluggish gear changes yesterday. At 98,000 miles, it must be overdue for a gearbox fluid change. I was going to replace the fluid, filter, gasket and sump plug washer, but I've noticed some kits online that include a new gearbox sump and the 20 bolts securing the...

    MOT failure

I took my 2006 4.2 ZF auto QP5 to The MOT station today. It failed due to the parking brake not being sufficiently powerful. I can see the cables moving in the boot when the handbrake is applied, however it is not providing enough force to hold the car. I did notice that there was quite a lot of...

Help removing steering wheel airbag 2007 QPV

I watched a youtube video showing how to use a screwdriver to release the 2 airbag clips via the holes in the back of the steering wheel. "Easy" I thought. I spent almost an hour on Sunday with 5 or 6 different sizes/lengths of screwdrivers without success. I pushed the tools through the hole...

2005 Maserati Quattroporte - Sell or swap?

My 2000 Porsche C4 was not originally listed as ULEZ compliant, but I discovered that the emissions were low enough to create an exception. I contacted Porsche UK who sent me the Certificate of Conformity for my car, which shows that it meets the standards to be exempted from ULEZ. I had to...

1977 Maserati Merak SS for sale £87,000

The colour is Grigio Flemington Metallic 106E6, I believe this was used as early as 1971. It seems such a modern colour. It really suits the lines of the car.

    Self levelling headlights QpV

On my 2007 QPV it was the plastic rod on the back of the headlight that had popped out. I removed the headlight, refitted the plastic rod and all works fine again.

I quite like the Citroen hydraulic system. It works brilliantly and is very well engineered. At first I was embarrassed by the Citroen connection, until I began to appreciate the history of the 2 firms and the engineering brilliance of Citroen during this period.
