    Camera / photography question

Just putting my tuppence worth in. I see the new Leica Q3 is 63MP or something like that. This is a fixed focal length lens camera, so any telephoto type work requires cropping. Standard focal length is 28mm, so if you want to use its digital zoom at 90mm you have effectively a 6MP camera...

    Gearbox/Engine light issue - 2004 4200 CC

The pump was replaced less than 20,000 km ago. I wish I could have got a relay for a tenner. The cheapest I could find was $22 USD and shipping was another $28.

    Gearbox/Engine light issue - 2004 4200 CC

I've ordered a new relay as a precaution, which I should have by next Friday. I'll run the car over the weekend and see how it goes - hopefully no repeats, but I have spare fuses if necessary.

    Gearbox/Engine light issue - 2004 4200 CC

A good point, though the relay checked out fine. I haven't driven it yet, but just thinking about it, though the pump primed and went off normally, I thought the pitch was a bit lower that I recall it being. This maybe points to the motor on the pump being at fault. Time will tell I guess. I...

    Gearbox/Engine light issue - 2004 4200 CC

Well I changed the fuse and it all appears to be working fine. Pump times seem normal and gear selection seems fine. I ran the engine up and no issues. I bought a few spare fuses, so I'll just have to drive it and see. There must be a reason why the fuse blew, but at this stage nothing obvious.

    Gearbox/Engine light issue - 2004 4200 CC

Hi Mike, Thanks for the advice about unscrewing the bracket it certainly made access much easier, once I'd managed to unscrew it. So the obvious issue is that the 30A fuse has blown. I haven't tested the relay yet but suspect it will be fine (not sure which contacts to use really). Anyone...

    Gearbox/Engine light issue - 2004 4200 CC

Thanks for the quick response. Do they have clips holding them or is it a straight pull off? It's very hard to see up in there. Hoping its not the pump and just a relay or fuse. It was working fine earlier. I just checked and my lost truck trip home was two years ago - how time flies..

    Gearbox/Engine light issue - 2004 4200 CC

While out driving on Saturday, I pulled into a parking lot and then wasn't able to select any gear. We pushed the car to the kerb with the engine running and shut off the engine. Now the dash shows an engine light and a transmission light and the car won't start. I notice that the pump isn't...

Location of ODB connector on a 4200 CC

Thanks everyone. I had another good look and managed to find it. It's hidden away, below and to the right of the steering wheel - as Fifty said up from the accelerator pedal. I found it by touch.

Location of ODB connector on a 4200 CC

Hi all. My car is going fine but threw an engine light this morning. Now I'm sure I've plugged in an ODB port reader before, but can't find now where I plugged it in. I've searched everyhere online, but I've drawn a blank. It always says below the steering wheel, or to the left, but I've...

4200 - Side of the road - again

Bolts and plates arrived this morning - thanks Eurospares. The Maserati part wasn't in stock, but the later 223916 Ferrari part was and only 76p a bolt. Once again a Ferrari part was cheaper. Only 22.50 GBP all up, including shipping by Royal Mail and it only took a week to get here! An...

4200 - Side of the road - again

Yes, I caused the problem, as I had them apart last. I did torque the bolts on replacement, but I don't remember 80Nm as being the figure which I've just looked up, so the incompetence is mine. Mind you, none of it would have been necessary if the gearbox pipes had been hung correctly, by the...

4200 - Side of the road - again

Hi all Happy day! I went to do the same test on the left side. Jacked the car up and in my tight garage space, got under it and the mystery was revealed. All 6 bolts holding the left axle shaft to the diff head had come undone and only two were still there. So the bang was the axle shaft...

4200 - Side of the road - again

Neil can't look at the car until next Friday at the earliest unfortunately. I did another test last night. I put the gearbox in neutral and jacked up the right hand side and rear wheel and put the lower suspension arm on a jack stand. The wheel turns freely and the axle shaft looks fine. No...

4200 - Side of the road - again

Busy day today. I talked to Lloyd Marx, a Mercedes mechanic who I've known for years and who did my E Type clutch for me some time ago. He put me on to Neil Penfold, who has worked on Ferrari and Maserati cars in the past and now owns Carrera Sport, a Porsche specialist, also in Pirongia...
