    Thanks to the the Forum

After 7 years great fun, my Spyder has reached it's reserve at auction so it's time to move on to something new. I would just like to say thanks to you all on the forum for all the invaluable information that I've found on this site, and it's no doubt saved me a few quid and hassle through the...

    Wish you a Merak Christmas

It sold this week on 'The Market' auction site for £42250, started out at £72k from the vendor in WsM and then failed to sell at Silverstone auctions in the summer with a reserve of about £55k. I think the mileage killed it a bit plus the fact there is virtually no history since the restoration...

    Small Cars

I'm considering getting one of these as my runaround, a Turismo convertible would be great but serious question, do you have to wave back to all the girls in their Fiat 500s who don't really know the difference? I've currently got a Smart Fortwo convertible and find waving back to excited...

    4200 O/SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR

Seen a few threads regarding the different position of the toothplate on the Alfa. Is rewelding the plate actually necessary? The top regulator is off my Spyder and has the used range marked on it, between the black lines. This falls comfortably within the positioning of the Alfa one below. On a...

STICKY SWITCHES DONE IN AN HOUR

Has anybody ever tried these? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2002-06-MASERATI-CAMBIOCORSA-COUPE-SPYDER-RADIO-BUTTON-RESTORATION-KIT/362085472350?hash=item544df9d85e:g:06QAAOSwRUdbpmTC:rk:9:pf:0 Looks like it would take a lot of time and effort to achieve an acceptable finish, maybe ok if you only...

STICKY SWITCHES DONE IN AN HOUR

If you've only got a few dots of white showing, a dab with a big fat black indelible felt tip makes them virtually unnoticable.

"E" sign at temperature reading dashboard

This is useful, anyone got the error code list for 4200 air conditioning. I also have the 'E' display followed by the correct outside temp, but have never managed to find out what error code AA065 means. Even the main dealer couldn't help.

    Window mech Failure

Perfectionists look away, this is my latest regulator bodge. I've had four regulator breakages now, each in a different place. This is the most recent, the teeth had completely worn away at the end of the upstroke. Bearing in mind there is about 2" of unused toothplate after this, I cut out the...

    Dinitrol, Mercasol or Waxoyl

Thanks chaps. it does appear on further research that Dinitrol is the way to go nowadays. however as mentioned above, a six hour turn around is a bit keen!

    Dinitrol, Mercasol or Waxoyl

I have decided to get the underside of the Spyder treated as I live by the sea and I use it occasionally through the winter. I have some quotes from these chaps www.CarRustTreatment.co.uk who have an outlet at Patchway in Bristol, and who describe the process: "............. includes the...

    Ignition / Sound question?

On the CC box you get a high pitched warning when you switch the car off while in neutral. The handbook recommends you park up and leave in first or reverse. Maybe they knew how ineffective the handbrake would be.

Clutch readings: how accurate, how repeatable?

I've never really understood why shifting to neutral while at rest is supposed to help save the clutch. Surely the clutch is disengaged at idle revs otherwise the car would be moving forwards? Mine will happily roll backwards when in first, until revs are increased and the clutch engages. Am I...

    2018 Events

We got waved in to the 'nice car' car park last year and then wandered in for free. They even gave us a programme for nothing. It's back to a one day event this year so will be very busy, but it's well worth a visit.
