    14yr (7th) Service Advice

My 2009 Granturismo is due its 7th/14yr service. In the schedule there is an R under lambda sensor for the 7th or 14 year service. But it also says change every 4 years. I spoke to a main dealer who said they should be changed every 4 years, which would therefore be the 12yr and 16yr service...

    Keeping a maserati outside

Its keeping them in a garage thats more likely to cause the rotten subframes I suspect. You get moistue build up overnight that doesn't get the opportunity to dry off during the day due to lack of airflow. As said covers will scratch and on all the wrong parts of the car like edges where the...

    Red paint for cylinder heads

Mine had chipped in the exact same places and re-painted them when I did the gaskets. I used VHT SP204 Red Wrinkle Finish Spray Paint. Complete strip down and repaint so can't comment on the colour match but here's how they came out. You spray right onto the metal and use a heat gun to...

    Front Sub Frame Clean Up

Now you point it out it does look like rot holes, but no, thats after sandblasting and those dark bits are left over paint. If I took all the paint off it'd all look like the light grey bits. I've followed your sub frame thread and did a good poke around in that upper arm area with a screw...

    Front Sub Frame Clean Up

Last are the photos after rust proofing/cleaning/scuffing and under sealing sprayed with a compressor. Cleaned up some other bits and pieces at the same time, like the suspension arms, shocks and steering rack. Happy that its all cleaned up and protected now.

    Front Sub Frame Clean Up

Next are some photos of the frame after a lot of cleaning, wire brushing and media blasting. I bought a hand held sand blaster gun off Amazon and some glass based media, and it did a good job of getting around the suspension arms and tight spaces. Really does a job on the suspension arm alloy...

    Front Sub Frame Clean Up

Just some quick photos of my front sub frame clean up. Like most this age I've got some surface rust and just general grime that needed cleaning up. I toyed with the idea of dropping the subframe and supporting the engine on a hoist, but I've just had my alignment done, and the sub frame bolts...

    Made in China

When something on ebay has a union jack in the thumbnail its normally a sign its a chinese seller. Scroll down the listing to the seller's name and address and you'll usually find some chinese gobbledygook.

What projects to do on the car whilst isolating?

I'm thinking of sprucing up the front sub frame on mine but not really sure where to start. I don't want to mess with my tracking so thinking upper arms and shocks off, work around the rest. Not really a small job but looks like we're going to have some time.

    Tinnitus

39 yrs old, 60-70 db hearing loss at its worst. I have a cacophony of tinnitus, multiple noises that flare up now and again that can be hard to stay sane with. Also have hyperacusis, which is a sensitivity to loud sounds that most people wouldn't be bothered by. Hearing aids help a bit by...

    Esure insurance

Just done a quote and they're very cheap at the moment. Check out topcashback too as esure are offering decent cashback for new customers, but you will have to go direct through the esure website so may not be cheaper overall than through confused.

    Few updates for my Granturismo

Just installed some spacers today. Someone on here linked to this place sometime in the past and I've had them bookmarked ever since: https://www.superforma.co.uk/ Spacers look a quality product, billet aluminium with stainless thread inserts that are stepped at the rear so they can't pull...

    Pirelli win again

I need new tyres before the end of the year. Anybody had experience with these Vredestein Ultrac Vortis? I see them listed alongside the Pirelli and Michelin as performance tyres for the GT sizes (20"). They seem to get good reviews and are a fair bit cheaper on the whole. Reviews: Pirelli P...

Stone chip guard replace or remove?

I took all mine off a couple of years ago when I resprayed my side skirts. I only do about 1000 miles a year so I'd rather touch up the odd stone chip here and there than have those ugly things on. I did save them however so I can make new ones with some clear vinyl if I ever want to.
