Roads / Places North York Moors

The road from Pickering to Whitby is a great one, as is the road that goes north across the Moors from Hutton-le-Hole.

    Replacement for my GS

You can say that about a lot of cars. There are hatchbacks with 400bhp now that are faster than supercars from previous decades. But a low, mid-engined sports car with a stiff chassis is going to be much more fun than an RS3!

    Replacement for my GS

Mine are 3 and 5, so figured I had to get one while they'll fit. I also sit with my seat quite far forward. There's a good 4 inches between my seat back and the base behind!

    Replacement for my GS

Haven't driven an Elise S1, but as I understand it, the Evora is miles more refined, but obviously larger and not as light footed. For me, a great 2 car garage would be an Elise Cup 250 and a QPV GTS 4.7 - I think that would cover plenty of bases.

    Replacement for my GS

When I travel for work, I chuck some bits in a suitcase and arrive at the airport an hour before take off. With the family... packing is a multi-day project and involves extensive use of the luggage scales to stay within baggage allowances. The Evora has this wide, not massively deep boot behind...

    Replacement for my GS

After waiting all year for the right car to come along, I picked up a 2012 Lotus Evora S on Monday. If I was going to swap the GS for something, I wanted it to be a very different car, but still ideally one I could occasionally get the kids in the back of. And it had to be good on twisty, bumpy...

    Disappointment after 5 years

The GS is a different kind of car with a different kind of power delivery - take it to a twisty road, keep the revs above 4k and then tell me it feels slow...

    What's wrong with EVO?

Yeah, I actually listen to 6 music and do miss the days when Harris wrote for Evo. Perhaps it's not quite as good as it was at its best, bit there's still plenty to enjoy, with Vivian and Barker and Meaden still there. They screwed up ecoty, but I think it's better now that Nick Trott has gone -...

    What's wrong with EVO?

Growing tired of Evo is like growing tired of Radio 1 - it means you're old. The mag tells you what new cars are like to drive at or near the limit. And to anyone who says that's not something you can ever do: get on track or get up early on a Sunday morning. Or stay at home listening to...

That's a lot of visual stimulation

If that screen stops working Maserati will charge £7k for a replacement and then someone on the forum will discover that it's made of eight Fiat 500 sat nav screens stuck together.

    GS Non-Start

Welcome to GS ownership. When my battery was on the way out the car would throw all kinds of wobblies until the day it was almost flat and I got the click click click. New battery and everything worked fine.

You've got £45k in your pocket....

Let’s have some balance, please. The GS is not the very best handling car ever made, but it’s also not some pig that handles like ****. We all know that it’s sensitive to setup – when I bought my car it turned out that the ride height was higher on one side and it was wearing old tyres. Ride...

    Apple HomePod

A few good tracks on Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers, as well as Diesel Power by the Prodigy. My dad had a classical recording with cannon fire in it. Liked to shock people by slipping that on and cranking up the volume...

    Apple HomePod

Sound engineers and audiophiles have been in disagreement since the beginning of time (or at least the advent of recorded sound)...

    Apple HomePod

Equipment from different manufacturers does have a different sound and it's all down to personal taste. You have to try different things. It also helps if you don't listen to equipment that's better than yours! I sold all my hi fi separates years ago and now I'm happy with the Sony soundbar and...

Putting my GranSport up for sale

Awesome GS track vid on youtube

On smooth tarmac the GS is a lovely thing to drive and pretty stable at high speeds. Really enjoyed taking it around Brands Hatch. But suspect that relatively short track evening contributed to my front brakes only lasting 5k miles.

Putting my GranSport up for sale

Thanks for the comments Ewan. I've priced it to sell - I'd like to get a replacement in time for the good weather.

Putting my GranSport up for sale

After two hugely enjoyable years, I'm putting my 2006 (56 plate) Grigio Touring/Nero full leather GranSport up for sale. I'm only the second owner and the car has covered 36,500 miles (will increase slightly with the use). The previous owner serviced the car on mileage, not time so that...
