    That's the thing with highly strung cars you need to have a War Chest for those rainy days and clutch and suspension are the common ones hence why you often come across very cheap Maserati for sale with a buyer trying to get out of a situation.

    As Chris has said above it's a 10 year old clutch and you don't know how it's been driven either. A proper Inspection is the way to go for peace of mind as Peter has suggested.

    Welcome and nice that someone is taking on a Project right from the start. Have you turned the engine over by hand from the crankshaft pulley and everything feels good ? Does your mechanic have a remote starter button that can be attached to the starter motor ? As above a good diagnostic check...
