What can you vary on a GS?

Thanks I'd love to be there, but I'm always very busy with work, and family (and currently Christmas!) and I'm a fair stretch from Silverstone. Its one of the difficulties of being into Maseratis - they are rare, and there isn't much going on nearby in deepest darkest sussex where I live!

What can you vary on a GS?

I stood on the gas when stationary standing outside the car but didn't have the sport button pressed! (Doh!) But inside the car I really didn't get any sense of it when driving. I expected to get at least something.....

What can you vary on a GS?

I hit the sport button about 6 times on the test drive, and gave it serious beans about 5 times! but at no point did it give any different sounds or indeed any sound of note!!! I was very disappointed!! :-(

What can you vary on a GS?

thanks guys for all your helpful comments I really don't believe the exhaust was right. It made no real sounds at all. Not what I was expecting. I suspect either the valves weren't working? (is this feasible) or it had a standard 4200 back box set up retro fitted for some reason (eg an...

What can you vary on a GS?

Well after trying for several months now, I finally got chance to turn speculation into reality and drive a GS in earnest yesterday. :excellent: So I'd kind of convinced myself in advance that a GS would be the model for me, because I want a toy for weekends and special occasions, and it will...

    Loz's old 4200/GS look

I've had a Boxster S and a 996 Turbo and I wouldn't call either of them "Special" but I would definitely say that dynamically the Boxster S is a wonderful car. I took mine on a tour of Europe and it was superb on the fun bits, and really comfortable on the long motorway hauls at speed. Not...

What can you vary on a GS?

thanks what does the DBW cost to install? Also - how do I test for clutchslip on a CC? I'm going to look at a 4200 without records of when the clutch was replaced or a clutch wear reading.

What can you vary on a GS?

I'm confused!! (it doesn't take much ) my general impression is that the gearbox ECU is reactive and predictive of what you want as a driver in the driving style you are using. the youtube videos I have seen onboard GS's just look a smidge sluggish on the gearchanges even when...

What can you vary on a GS?

On a gransport? What are the variable settings for suspension, exhaust, gearchange?? ie what can you control. Or is it basically 2 settings - SPORT and non SPORT affecting all 3 elements? Is throttle response variable ? (as in BMW) I have been scrutinising videos on youtube of...

Removing the contents of Exhaust Boxes??

Thanks for those comments BennyD - I've done unsilenced X-Pipes before on other V8 cars and always found they created a resonance boom at a certain rev point - usually 1800-2200rpm. I'm naturally suspicious of these therefore. Perhaps this isn't an issue on the 4200. Whereas back box packing...

Absolute Stunner - Rare Model - please advise?????

I've just seen this stunning thing for sale online..... It looks like a really rare model - perhaps a special edition? Can anyone help me out so I can tell my insurers before I buy it!!! Thanks...

Removing the contents of Exhaust Boxes??

Has anyone tried to take the innards out of the backboxes on a 3200/4200? It can be a cost effective way of releasing some sound on some vehicles but I have no idea how a 3200/4200 responds to it. Has anyone tried?? thanks

    Manual Gearbox Short Shifter

Hi I may be mistaken but I read somewhere that the manual box in a 4200 is a Getrag 6 speed as used in a BMW M5? If this is the case, I have experience of this box, and found that in BMW application, the throw in factory spec is very long. This is simply cured by changing to a shorter...

    Anyone know this QPV?

Thanks Michael, I'll see what I can find out..

    Anyone know this QPV?

I wasn't referring to servicing, but specifically asking a dealer to vouch for the background of a car. Most main dealers will go nowhere near this idea because they fear liability in our sadly litigious society.......BMW have retracted from supporting this kind of request in the past 10 years...

    Anyone know this QPV?

it had a clutch release bearing and clutch seal just recently but no plate. The seller has no clutch % wear figure but I will double check he goes through the history. full maser sh apparently - are maser dealers friendlier/more helpful than BMW in that they will vouch for a car if asked...
