Importing used parts from the USA

I should have got back to this before now (apologies). Buying from the USA worked out really well. I couldn't find a used gearbox actuator on a European eBay site where I was happy about the provenance of the donor car, i.e. How many miles it might have done. Consequently I ended up buying from...

Importing used parts from the USA

I think the thing to try to do is to get the exporter to declare a lower price on the item. Not sure where that leads regarding insurance during transit tho...

Importing used parts from the USA

Merci beaucoup Parisien! The import duty seems relatively low, but the VAT is going to be painful. There seems to be a dearth of decent used actuators available in the UK/Europe otherwise I wouldn't be looking at this option.

Importing used parts from the USA

I'm looking to buy a used gearbox actuator for my QPV and see that there seems to be a lot more of them for sale in the USA. Has anyone on here imported parts from the USA? What sort of sales tax and import duty might I pay? Do you think it's a good idea??

    The insurance game...

Thanks for this tip - I've decided to go with Pace Ward this year and have dropped Admiral who I discovered would only pay for an Autoglass windscreen replacement on my QPV and not a proper Maserati screen. Admiral may seem cheap but not when you have to pay for a decent windscreen! Caveat...

    Maseratis - Spotted

Nice dark blue QPV 'BAZ 262' outside V&G's italian restaurant in Ringwood this evening. Would have brought mine along but the temptation of vino rosso meant that Mrs g_r was doing the chauffeuring in her SEAT (ooerr)....

    QP V recall?

Had a phone call from a Maserati main dealer this week about a recall to correct rear suspension issues on my QP V (2005 model). Apparently 6 hours work is needed to correct the fault. Has anyone else had a similar recall? If I go ahead, is the work carried out gratis? (naive question I...
