You:
is there a map of petrol stations for the NC500

Copilot:

Certainly! When embarking on the North Coast 500 (NC500), a breathtaking 516-mile scenic route through the rugged landscapes of the Scottish Highlands, it’s crucial to consider the availability of petrol stations. Given the remote nature of the Highlands, these stations can be sparse, and knowing their locations is essential to avoid being stranded with an empty tank.
Here’s a comprehensive guide to the petrol stations along the NC500 route:
  1. Map of Petrol Station Locations on the NC500:
  2. Overview of Petrol Stations:
    • The NC500 is home to various petrol stations, each with its unique characteristics.
    • Some are small, family-owned establishments that have been serving motorists for decades.
    • Others are larger, modern facilities offering services beyond refuelling.
    • Many stations are conveniently located near towns and villages, making them ideal for rest stops, meals, and sightseeing.
    • Some stations are more isolated, providing a sense of adventure and often exceptional views.
  3. Check Opening Hours:
    • Keep in mind that opening hours can vary, especially at smaller, rural petrol stations.
    • Some may not operate 24 hours a day, and seasonal variations can affect their schedules.
    • Always check ahead of time, especially if you plan to travel early in the morning or late at night.
    • Some stations labeled as open 24 hours may be unmanned, allowing you to “pay at the pump” using a credit or debit card.
  4. Notable Petrol Stations:
    • Francis St Service Station in Wick (60 Dempster St, KW1 5QA) offers both fuel and convenience services. You can find it on Google Street View1.
    • There’s also a Tesco Petrol Station along the route.
Remember to plan ahead, enjoy the stunning Highland scenery, and keep your tank full! ⛰️️

Ken’s in Kildary do super unleaded as does Tesco in Tain. (Although they seem to be sold out quite often!)
Ullapool has super unleaded as we organised an old Italian bike weekend there last September and we all filled up with it.
Guess there is a chance Tesco in Wick will stock it as well. Some of our bikes had a range just over 100 miles and we coped. Even a gutsy Maserati should be fine. lol

Yeah, I didn’t bother planning fuel stops, the range of the Maser meant I only topped up twice i think, and my total route was 800+ miles.

I think avoiding E10 might be more of a concern, but I’m less fussy when it’s getting burnt off the next day anyway!

Hi Kevin,
Like you, I hardly ever saw another 4200 in the Highlands area in my 3 years of ownership or since! Here’s mine pictured a few years back outside Dallas distillery.View attachment 125241
Looks like a twin brother to mine! Did you find any good place to service/fix problems at all up our way? I think I'll have to get mine transported to Edinburgh/Glasgow to fix an issue with the CC gearbox,
