Just been out after 5-10 mins and the windows are now staying up locked manually.

good question just been out to check. After the poor baby has had a rest she does the same, central locking works 2/3 times then nothing. Using the key seems to lock the door but both doors need locking separately then even after waiting a couple of minutes when trying the handle the window...

Hi, Just picked the car up from the garage and it seems to have got itself a new fault immediately. Pressing the key fob the central locking does work for 2/3 goes but sounds weak, it then stops working. I tried a reset for 20+ mins and the same thing it starts working again for 2/3 goes...

Yep they sell them and regularly service about 6 or so 4200's, it's called http://www.autofficina.co.uk/ I live in Kingston, anyone got any suggestions for a 2nd opinion garage ? I suppose there is the main dealers in NW London Thanks

thanks allandwf, to be sure what your saying just bite the bullet and get a new gearbox

Turns out the cables are all fine and good so it' something in the gearbox. The Garage is saying 10 hours to take the gearbox out and replace and 8 hours to deconstruct the gearbox and work out if the issue can be solved. As a side note 1-6 all work like a dream just reverse that has got worse...

Hi Catman, Thanks and that makes sense as after some time I worked out it could only be locked from the passengers door which seems to be the offending door. Many thanks and off to the garage then. Cheers Stephen
