I think the thing to try to do is to get the exporter to declare a lower price on the item.
Not sure where that leads regarding insurance during transit tho...

The import duty seems relatively low, but the VAT is going to be painful.
There seems to be a dearth of decent used actuators available in the UK/Europe otherwise I wouldn't be looking at this option.

Thanks for this tip - I've decided to go with Pace Ward this year and have dropped Admiral who I discovered would only pay for an Autoglass windscreen replacement on my QPV and not a proper Maserati screen. Admiral may seem cheap but not when you have to pay for a decent windscreen! Caveat...
