    Autocar 7th Feb

Yes, the pictures are very inaccurate, its my car in the pictures, a 2003 manual. Were any Gransports manuals? I seem to remember they were all CC box?

Nice little article in Autocar this week about Gransports and Gransport Spyders. The main pics are actually of my 4200 Spyder from a 2017 article in Classic and Sportscar ! I still have the car, so it was a bit of a shock walking into WH Smith and seeing it on the front cover!

    wanted Maserati Fuel cap

They were available from eurospares. I got a new one a couple of years ago. The grey breather bit becomes detached after a while, but it can be glued back in so long as the vent holes are not blocked

    Thoughts on this Japanese import

Makes my teeth itch when they get the nomenclature wrong. The GT denotes a manual box. This car has a CC box, so its a Spyder Cambiocorsa. Scuttle shake is significantly reduced on the glass window cars. Unless you're really on a rough road it's not THAT noticeable. Did the Japanese spec cars...

With Baited Breath I await my 4200 Spyder

I've had my Spyder 13+ years. It's actually been very reliable indeed! OK, so I had the heater core go on me, and a couple of suspension bushes were replaced as a precaution, but other than that, at a total of 69k miles (of which I have added 45k) Sophia (for that is her name) has been very...

Anyone Know the Spyder at Mathewsons

2003 - so the updated chassis (more rigid) , glass window etc, but the earlier classico bodywork. Colour is Argento Luna (Grigio alloy is the other name for it) which you can see in my profile pic. Blue interior. grey piping. It's done 63k miles, most of that in my possession (owned since 2009...

Cross brace for the transmission tunnel

If it has the glass rear window and the V8 wing badges, but retains the classico styling and metal grille then its an 03 car

Cross brace for the transmission tunnel

It's a bit more than just the brace on the 2003 onwards cars... for example they also filled all the box sections with "structural foam" (whatever that is!) Mine is a 2003 car and it is noticeably stiffer than the 2002 cars I have been in.

    Aircon

You need to get a look at the reference number on the label on the unit. Then a little internet digging.....

    Aircon

yes, it's still about £600 quid though from memory, plus you have to make sure you get the right version

    It’s Roary!

The 2003 onwards cars also have some sort of rigid foam filling of the box sections. I was told at the factory that this made a considerable difference

    Spyder first impressions

There was a big improvement for the 'glass window' classicos, including extra bracing and foam filled box sections. Scuttle shake is significantly reduced.

Best kept petrolhead secret (apart from us of course)

It's a strange thing for sure. I've had my Spyder for more than 12 years, and I've put 40k miles on it in that time, including a couple of trips down to Italy. It's never broken down, never failed to start, and runs as sweetly today as she did when I bought her. The annual service is approx...
