Balls!!I opened the key very carefully and along with the key circuit was this unremarkable piece of plastic, I thought it was just a spacer but couldn't see where it was supposed to go right away so left it out.
I think its supposed to be glued in place looks like there adhesive remnants on it.. I shall glue it in place ASAP.
Normally these things are attached to the board aren't they?
Balls!!
now almost certain the transponder fell out after first battery change. Before I moved house, twice ago. FFS
Well...........................Bit of a bolt from the blue. Assume this is your spare key?

For certain the red key is empty except the small black object, so that must be part of the code reading setup.I'm not 100% sure that the 3200 has the same system with the chip as the 4200.....

Wow - thanks! Will make a trip into the big town Saturday. Knew that can copy physical keys but the transponder is news.Timpsons can copy them. Just done 2 Alfa keys. Be good for a spare if needed.
I would call first. They have a tablet or a chart that tells them if it is possible. You could also call Nick at the Remote Fob Centre 07932433929. He will likely be cheaper depending on what you need. Timpsons cost me 112 for 2. It is 70ish for one but the alfas are just keys, no pcb or buttons.Wow - thanks! I have one transponder (majority intact despite sprinkling of dust inside the key). They will likely need a transponder to copy.....
