What is this puddle?

So I had the headlamp washers fixed at considerable price. One of what I thought the symptoms were was a leak from the defective ones, leaving a puddle of water (or certainly remnants of one) under the front of the wheel arch.

Imagine my surprise this morning when under the front wheel arch there was a wet patch! See pic. Has anyone else seen this, it isnt condensation from the aircon is it?

Had you been out?
Either aircon condensate, just dew draining down or they haven't fixed it....

Id been out the previous evening, and it was humid. Just checked now and there is a smaller "stain" there now (after 20 mile drive to work). I have emailed dealer the pic and asked for comment!

Put some white paper under it and see what colour it is. I suspect blue (screenwash)

I did that (a large filter paper no less, being a lab manager has its perks).. anyway it was colourless. However, the water in the wash bottle appears to be colourless too (despite itemised screenwash cost showing up on the bill!!)

Food colouring in the washer bottle?
Yes that was my next train of thought. I have sent the pic to dealer, who have said there is no aircon drain near there, awaiting their latest response..

So observe over the weekend and book it in next week if its still doing it. Im 90% sure its washer related.

I will empty the wash bottle, and add screenwash later, then test the water drip / puddle for methanol which will prove conclusively that its washer water. (I have tested the diluted washer fluid prior and it contains plenty..!)

Out of curiosity, how are you going to do that test?

GC-FID to be precise ;)
He’s a lab manager, I think on a petro/ chemical site, think I’ve seen the car come past when I’ve been trying to get out of work on the 4 o’clock dash..

Thats correct. There are 2 Ghilbis at my work and a near identical one to mine at Ineos..! Where do you work?

So there is methanol in them there samples.. confirms what I already knew anyway...
On Friday on my way home I emptied the wash bottle. Over night, no water at all. I refilled the bottle saturday morning then later on there was the water again. It took 2 hours from filling the bottle for water to start dripping. Its v slow.
