I'm still on the fence - so I need some more opinions to help me decide please! This car is perfect I think EXCEPT for the colour. I don't think silver really does it for me. If it were grey like my old 4200 then I'm sure I'd have bought it already. What do people think about this blue one?

It doesn't look quite as good in terms of age and mileage, and it's not just down the road from me at a known dealer - but, at least in the photos, it looks so much prettier! Is this a known car, or indeed a known dealer? It's 140 miles from me but I'm sorely tempted to take a drive over there next week to see it in person.

I'd spoke to the garage when it first came on the market. It's fairly well specced but doesn't have xenons. The ad also states 'clutch replaced', which would lead you to believe this was done recently. Alas no, what it actually means is that the original clutch was replaced some time ago...doh...what pee'd me off was that the car originally went on at £27k and then, due to high level of initial interest, the dealer increased the price to £28k. Fair play but it put me off.

Does not have xenon headlights and wash, which is worth a few grand, looks in nice nick though, it's not an LE..!! For a 2006 GS with 41k and lacking some options though it has got most, I would have priced it at about £25 - £26k..!!

All GS prices have been creeping up though!

Bought it (the silver one)! With a major service and a few other bits thrown in, I think I've got a good deal there.

I'm back in the club!

Hey Ben, welcome back, we better have another track day down in Chepstow so you can insult the staff again :)

Exhaust, I take it your modding it?

Get it to Benny to have the rear cans gutted (£200 ish) and H Pipe (£160 ish) and if you can stretch to it, a pair of these (Benny can get them made for circa £600)

Then you can start upsetting you neighbours again after a quite patch!

Thanks Matt - you've predicted my next line of thinking very well..!

I've had a read through various threads and can't quite work out the options though. I don't want Larini backboxes - too expensive and the ones I (temporarily) had on my 4200 had the drone problem. But I definitely need something.

That photo is a set of straight through pipes I take it? I think that might be a bit more noise than I can take... Really I would like a prospeed custom setup like last time - I had sports cats and new backboxes - but ideally I also would like to keep the valved bits so that non-sport-mode can be that bit quieter when needed.

What do you recommend?

PS I don't recall insulting anyone at the track days - though admittedly that does sounds like the sort of thing I'd have done.

Do you slip a double dummy exhaust end piece on too fill the exhaust opening in the rear bumper.

£1000 all in ----------Benny!!!!!

Ben, I would recommend getting Benny to supply a H pipe and rework the rear boxes so you still have your valve capabilities. That I what I have plus the de cat pipes above and its epic but you can always add more sound so just get the H pipe and the rear reworked boxes for Benny and go from there, that will probably be enough for you.

Next on the list is the DBW mod - it made such a difference on the 4200 that it's a must have for me on this one. Don't suppose anyone has one up for sale? I've emailed Torreno (the new Perfomance Italia?) for a price anyway.

Drive By Wire Enhancement Module or DBWEM. There's a few threads here on it if you search. It fools the gearbox into running at full whack even when you're pooling around. Basically it makes the gear changes much better.
