Lovely looking thing. Have to say I'm surprised at the price, so it'll be interesting to see how it pans out.

I like everything about it apart from the rear wheel arches; I just don't get them. Consequently, I could never buy one as they would always bother me.

I agree. Looks out of place compared to the rest of the design.

The same rear wheel arch cut-off design as on my QP IV and Diablo's - fantastic. I love this bit of Gandini designs. And the exaggerated rear blisters are very 1980's and even more pronounced than those on my 944. Which is a good thing!

But I agree with Miles - the price is "interesting". A lovely UK rhd version (very rare - from memory, there were only about 8 made) in dark blue sold a year or two back for low twenties, and that's the most recent UK example sale that I remember. But maybe it's worth more in lhd because of the wider sale base in Europe. Who knows!

It such a rare car with such a small marketplace in the UK that it's probably just a case of running a price up the flag-pole and seeing what happens. But certainly, the red Shamal at the Club AGM at Prescott a few weeks ago got nothing but praise and admiring glances all day long.

The comments are all interesting to read. I have been looking for a Shamal for 18 months as I love the styling, oodles of torque and the way they drive. It's difficult to price such rare classics which aren't often offered for sale. The only ones I have to base it on are recent sales and listings. One sold by Meridien last year for £39950, it had been for sale for less but it did sell at that price. There's one in Surrey for £69,950 and one in Holland at €48000 at present. Judging by these, mine's fairly priced in my opinion, it's also got an impressive history and is in superb condition and drives spot on. Only time will tell but for now I'm happy just looking at it :)

I agree with Dicky - it's worth that on the visual impact alone. And seeing this biturbo V8 go for good money "might" just help to strengthen tha value of the later biturbo V8 (3200 gt). Fingers crossed.

Not so sure Ewan.........3200 different kettle of fish.....how many Shamals around Vs 100s of 3200s......and getting one in mint condition very rare?

Sorry Dicky, didn't mean to appear to be questioning your sale price, but only that I am genuinely surprised, as I didn't realise this is where they're at value-wise.

As you mention above, it's difficult to set a price on cars like this, as they only come up rarely, sorta like valuing art.

It's certainly one of, if not my favourite of the pre-3200 Masers, and your example looks in fine fettle. I really will be interested to see how it pans out, as it'll give a steer on where the values are heading.

Hope it sells well and quickly.
